No SCQ tyre for WorldSBK at Aragon as Pirelli opt for harder allocation

The tyre allocation for MotorLand Aragon is out, with more aggressive asphalt meaning there’s no room for the SCQ

Pirelli have unveiled their tyre allocation for the upcoming Tissot Aragon Round, opting for tyres a step harder than in the last round for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship field. There is no SCQ tyre available while the softest, the SCX, is limited in use at MotorLand Aragon after last year’s data was reviewed with the asphalt proving aggressive on tyres.

REAR TYRE OPTIONS: no SCQ, SCX limited to Superpole and Superpole Race

Pirelli have brought the development E0126 supersoft tyre to Spain, commonly known as the SCX tyre, as the option for the Tissot Superpole session and Tissot Superpole Race with no SCQ available for the WorldSBK field. The other options at the rear are the standard SC0 soft compound, and the development E0125 soft tyre, with the development one featuring a different structure for improved stability.

FRONT TYRE CHOICES: two standard solutions

At the front of the bike, teams are limited to two choices throughout the weekend. The softest is the SC1 medium, used most commonly throughout the season, while the harder of the two tyres is the SC2 hard option. Compared to the SC1 counterpart, the SC2 is designed for better mechanical resistance and greater protection from wear.

WORLD SUPERSPORT TYRES: two front, two rear tyres from the standard range

For the WorldSSP field, the softest rear tyre is the SC0 soft while the hardest is the SC1 medium, with no SCX available at Aragon. At the front, the two choices are the SC1 medium and SC2 hard, with all four tyres coming from the standard range of tyres that Pirelli have available.

PIRELLI SAYS: “The Aragon circuit, with its aggressive asphalt, will therefore be an excellent testing ground for the new development solutions”

Explaining the tyre choices for Aragon, Giorgio Barbier, Motocycle Racing Director at Pirelli, said: “The Aragon circuit is among the most aggressive on the tyres, particularly after the resurfacing carried out in 2024, so, as was the case last year, we propose an allocation geared towards greater protection from wear. Thanks to the introduction of the new casing, which has allowed a major step forward in terms of performance and consistency across all the specifications to which it has been applied, we are able to offer WorldSBK riders options that are valid in terms of both pure performance and consistency, even on a tough track like MotorLand Aragon. The extrasoft SCQ, usually the reference rear option for Superpole and the Superpole Race, will be replaced here by the supersoft E0126, a development version of the standard SCX. This is not a totally new use for this specification, at Misano and Magny-Cours it has already been the most chosen for the Superpole Race as well. For Race 1 and Race 2, the riders will be able to choose between two soft solutions: the standard SC0 and its development evolution E0125. Beyond the usage statistics, what strikes us most today is the extremely positive feedback received from the riders: both development solutions are so appreciated that they become, in the rounds in which they are present, the immediate choice from the first sessions of the weekend. The Aragon circuit, with its aggressive asphalt, will therefore be an excellent testing ground for the new development solutions and will allow us to gather further information and data on their behaviour and effectiveness.”
